Vodafone K3565 and Windows 7 x64 Connection problems

I finally upgraded my laptop to Windows 7 x64 - and I have to say I love it.

However my love affair with my Windows 7 and my Vodafone dongle was pretty short lived.

My previous posts tell of my troubles with the same dongle and XP Pro x64.

Windows 7 driver support is very good, and software providers have actually got behind it after being burned by Vista.

Vodafone website says the latest version supports all vista and W7 versions and K3565 and K3565-Z USB sticks.

The software 9.4.6 can be downloaded from the link below and installed straight onto the PC

So far so good.  The software and drivers install properly - fantastic.

Try and connect - RAS error code 629 so I called Vodafone

uninstall > reboot > install > reboot > play with connection settings > reboot

Eventually we found the answer.

The modem needed to be configured with an extra initialisation string

at+cgdcont=1,"IP","pp.internet"

Then create a manual dial up connection with the user details from my previous blog and it worked.

The connection that is.  the software whilst it worked, would not connect to the internet for love nor money so I uninstalled it and installed MWConn 5.6.0

Simples......
